Hotel
The hotel has 400 years of history and was built in 1616, when it was initially the home of a local professor. The building became a Hostel in 1900 and from there it was renovated and today it combines with the historical past and the whole musical atmosphere of the city. It is a very cool option for those looking where to stay in Montreux.
Location
The hotel is in the historic center of the old city, it is 500 meters uphill from the lake or the train station. The walk is not easy if you have a lot of suitcases, the whole city is up and down, but about ten minutes walking from the station is enough.
Taxi is also an option, it's only five minutes and you'll find them outside the station.
A third option is to take the bus, I tried it and I highly recommend it, just take the bus number 206 right there from the train station and get off at the 5th stop called “Les Planches”. Being a small town, the bus is almost as fast as a taxi and runs every 15 minutes.
Parking
For those traveling by car, the hotel's address is: Temple Street 2-1820 Montreux, Switzerland.
You can find two places to park and they cost 15 Swiss Francs (about 52 Reais) per day. You can book with the hotel if there is availability.
It is also possible to park on the street around the hotel, security in Montreux It's not a problem. The hotel gives you a “blue disk” so you can park on the street (it works like a permit). It's 3 hours free during the day, and free throughout the night.
Check In
The service was great and the process was super fast, check-in starts at 2:00 am and ends at 23:00 pm, and check-out takes place until noon.
rooms
The Hotel has 35 rooms divided into three categories:
- Quartos S – “Small and Sexy”
- Quartos L – “Large and Love”
- Quartos XL – “Extra Large and Luxury”
In addition to a bed for two people, the rooms are equipped with a safe, telephone and alarm system, full-length mirror, hairdryer, television and fast internet (if you don't have a device, the hotel offers a computer to browse at the reception, without extra costs), it is also worth mentioning that the voltage on them is 220v!
The “S” rooms are the smallest and cheapest, measuring 15m2 overlooking the Ancient city and some overlooking the lake.
The “L” rooms already offer more space, reaching up to 25m2, they also have a balcony with an incredible view of the Geneva lake or for the beautiful Castle of Chillon.
The room itself has the same amenities as the “S” rooms, but the bathroom has a differential: a bathtub.
The “XL” rooms are the suites that follow the philosophy Leave it alone and they really deserve all the credit. There are only three and vary from 30 to 50m2. Two of them have a typical characteristic of “Combles” in French, which would be something like the Attic in Portuguese!
The third suite, which I had the pleasure of staying in, has an incredible 50m2 with a private terrace at the top of the hotel. The suite is so big, you can ask to add a bed, ideal for couples traveling with children, for example. The entire bedroom and bathroom is a design charm and I liked it so much I would live in it for the rest of my life.
Rancho Mayrita
The restaurant offers simple meals with service from 8:00 am to 22:00 pm.
O Breakfast it is in buffet format, served from 7:00 to 10:30. Simple, practical and delicious: fruits, breads, cereals, juices, yogurts, cold cuts, teas and coffees.
In the surroundings of the hotel you will also find several restaurants if you are looking for something more specific.
Services
The Hotel also offers some other services to meet your needs, they are:
- Meeting room
- Laundry service
- Snack bar
- Lounge Bar & Wine
- Bad storage room
- Fax e Xerox
- Daily Newspaper and Magazines
- bike rental
- Massage, Doctor and even Babysitters, but these need to be ordered and booked.
The Hotel is a mixture of simplicity and luxury. I really enjoyed the experience, and although the city itself has a lot to offer and you end up not spending much time at the hotel, the suite made me forget for a moment I was in a hotel.
Certainly the suite was the most positive of all, but nothing in the hotel left anything to be desired, from the service to the services and amenities.
Hotel TRALALA is certainly a great choice for those looking where to stay in Montreux.
