Looking for a good place to stay in Washington DC? One of the most sumptuous and important hotels in the capital of the United States has opened its doors to Mochilando and we'll tell you everything.
With a beautiful view of Washington DC and for the Rio Potomac, I stayed at the beautiful Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The 5-star hotel in the North American capital already impresses with the refinement and elegance of the building's architecture. Upon entering the hotel, I came across a lobby decorated with welcoming flowers, as well as objects that, of course, refer to the wonderful east.
I spent a few minutes observing the richness of details until one of the employees, with a smile and a lot of politeness, began to explain to me the meaning of each of those objects. He also told me that the decor was inspired by the work of John Russel Papa, designer responsible for the Jefferson Memorial, one of the most important tourist attractions in the city.
All this decoration is also spread out and thought out in the smallest details in the 347 rooms, 53 spacious suites and 3 presidential suites.

Mandarin Oriental Washington Service
The service at the hotel was excellent. During my check-in, in addition to all the information about the facilities and services, I was served a delicious jasmine tea with ginger. If that wasn't enough to make me feel welcomed, as soon as I entered the room I saw on the table a basket with fruits, chocolates, a welcome note, a “selfie stick” and a bottle of wine. There, in the blink of an eye I was beyond pampered, conquered!
Where is Mandarin Oriental Washington
Another positive highlight is the location, just a few minutes' walk to the National Mall and other important national symbols such as the Lincoln Memorial and the United States Capitol. The last point mentioned is very important when choosing where to stay.
the traffic in Washington DC it is one of the most intense in the country, which can make you lose precious time in the numerous attractions of the city.

Ask for the Jefferson Memorial room view, that's what I got. Get ready to feel inside the story and american patriotism. There were 2 nights admiring the landscape from my room in the Mandarin Washington D.C. which, even with the cloudy weather, was beautiful.
The room is very spacious, air conditioning system and digital lighting, with a panel next to the bed very easy to use. And there's the bed (Ah! The bed!!!) one of the most comfortable and soft I've ever slept on. King size with four fluffy pillows.
Gastronomia do Mandarin Oriental Washington
O muze restaurant offers a select menu of international dishes with a special Asian touch. All this in a sophisticated environment with a beautiful view of the sea. The menu was developed under the direction of Chef Mark McDonnell and its renowned culinary team.
Breakfast is served in this same restaurant, with a choice of “ala carte” or buffet menus. As I am very curious and gluttonous, I decided to try an option every day.
The buffet had cereal, various types of milk, cheeses, fruits, juices, bagel (you can't leave the United States without trying one of these), eggs and even oriental dishes, such as gyoza (a type of pastry) very common in oriental cuisine. The next day I ordered a bagel with smoked salmon, I think from the photo you can imagine how delicious it was, right?
In addition to excellent cuisine, the restaurant offers a selection of handcrafted cocktails and an extensive wine list.
O museum it is open to the public, that is, even if you are not staying here, you can enjoy the restaurant. Its opening hours are from 06:30h to 10:30h for breakfast; from 11:30h to 14:30h (not open on Sundays); and from 17:00h to 22:00h for dinner.
If you are looking for a more informal place to relax and have a drink, my suggestion is the Empress Lounge. You can choose to sit inside (more comfortable and cozy) or outside (more airy and with a privileged view of the garden).
During the winter, the outside is closed and the garden is all white, covered in snow. At the Empress Lounge there is no dinner option, only appetizers. Opening hours are from 14:00h to 02:00h.
Lazer do Mandarin Oriental Washington
The Spa is simply wonderful and has several packages of skin treatments and relaxing massages. In addition, it has a fitness area with a swimming pool. I didn't have the opportunity to try any of the Spa treatments but I used the gym and I really enjoyed it, all the equipment is new and very modern. And, to finish off my fitness experience, I took advantage of the heated indoor pool to relax.

What to do near Mandarin Oriental Washington?
All in Washington DC is linked to the history of the United States. Museums, monuments, memorials, parks. Anyway, everything revolves around the main events in the country in recent centuries and the Mandarin Oriental Washington D.C. It's just a few steps away from it all.
When is the best time to visit Washington DC?
During spring (March to May) many tourists visit the city to follow the Festival Cherry Blossom. The event takes place in commemoration of the donation of Japanese cherry trees by Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington, on March 27, 1912, as a symbol of friendship between the two countries. who passes through West Potomac Park you are enchanted by the colors and beauty of the cherry trees that surround the place.
The summer (June to August), a period that coincides with the school holidays, attracts many American families and also foreign tourists, who are looking for outdoor activities in the parks, and others in the cultural manifestations in the several free museums of the city and, others, in the different jazz festivals spread across the city.
In autumn (September to November) the city has a more romantic and peaceful atmosphere, the leaves on the trees begin to change color and the parks are full of couples having a picnic.
Winter (December to February) is usually marked by a lot of snow, which totally changes the face of the city. I have great memories of Washington DC at that time, especially because it was in this city where I saw this beautiful manifestation of nature for the first time. Unforgettable!
