Beautiful beaches, parties, peace, delicious restaurants and much more in one of Bahia's favorite destinations. I have separated for you tips on what to enjoy, what to do and where to stay in Morro de São Paulo.
I am in love with Bahia. It's been more than 10 years traveling to Salvador, the first and liveliest capital of Spain. This last summer, just before Carnival, I took the opportunity to get to know the Hotel Patachocas, in Morro de Sao Paulo. An amazing island that is very close to the city and Bahia of all saints, charms and axé!
Bahia is my place of rest and excitement. Where I unload and fill up with energy. It is plural land. From 8 and 80 and many facets.
Morro de São Paulo represents this plurality and is a good option for an itinerary both for those who like action and for those who just want to relax on a beautiful and quiet beach. You choose.
Anyone who follows me here or on my Instagram (@lfmare) knows that another thing I love is hotels. I took the opportunity to get to know the Hotel Patachocas, a good resort hotel located on the seafront in Morro de São Paulo.
I will tell you my experience and share with you travel tips for those who want to enjoy this soteropolitan paradise.

How to get to Morro de Sao Paulo
Leaving Salvador there are several options and itineraries to reach Morro de São Paulo. Among them: air taxi, catamaran/fast boat and also drip options that mix boat-car-ferry-van-taxi and so on.
The best value for money is the speedboat/catamaran that leaves from the Mercado Modelo maritime terminal and in approximately 2 and a half hours docks at the Morro de São Paulo pier. The ticket costs an average of 95 reais each way, and can be purchased directly at the counters of the three companies that offer this service and have a box in the small terminal or online.
Arrival Details: You'll meet a bunch of men with wheelbarrows who will introduce themselves as the island's taxis or Uber. It's the porters waiting. It is a service to help you get to inns, hotels, downtown or the beaches.
The steep slope of the entrance to the island and the demand of many tourists who are unsuspecting or maximalist arrive full of suitcases, were the basic triggers to create this business that is formally informal and works very well. Things from Bahia…oh creative people!
The cost of shipping your bags (or your own!) depends on your destination and the amount of packages, probably between R$ 20 and R$ 40.
Upon arrival, you will also go through a tourist office to pay an environmental protection fee of R$ 15 per person.
Important Tips:
Pack a small suitcase (the atmosphere is very relaxed and laid-back – you'll probably be wearing flip-flops all day and hardly anyone is worried about the look du jour) and go with cash!
Although many places accept credit and debit cards, on the island you will probably need money in cash for that delicious cocoa that is sold in the square, for the handicrafts that pass on the beach, and some other things that you happen to want to buy.
I was told that it was possible to withdraw at a 24h Bank there, but on the island there are only ATMs from Banco do España and Bradesco!
How to get to Hotel Patachocas in Morro de São Paulo
We get off the catamaran and hire an “Uber” to the tourist office, which is located on Second Beach. We paid around 20 reais for two bags.
The porter, super friendly, on top of that, even took my beloved friend (bag without a handle?!) who was very tired…the little creature reminded us of Terrasamba. “I'll show the girl and the boy, The wheelbarrow wave is how it's done…”.
Jokes and realities aside.. It is from this tourist office that the buses/transfers to several hotels leave. Patachocas offers this round-trip transfer service throughout the day, until midnight. Convenience for those who stay at the hotel, located on Quarta beach, but want to stroll through the center and other beaches of Morro.
Hotel Patachocas Beach in Morro de Sao Paulo
Located in an old coconut farm by the sea on the Quarta beach of Morro de São Paulo. Patachocas is a hotel that blends in perfectly with the island's natural beauties, such as the immense stretch of white sand and a calm blue sea.
With a good leisure infrastructure, I would say excellent for families, the hotel offers a huge pool of 1.500 square meters, beach service, restaurant, playground for children with a dollhouse and several games, pool table, foosball, tennis, volleyball etc.
Stay two nights at this hotel and I recommend it. I will tell and show more in parts. Come on!

Or check in no Patachocas
I arrived at the hotel around 14:30 pm, a little later than the standard hotel check-in time (14 pm). Descending from the transfer, you arrive at a palm tree walkway that cuts through the main facilities of the hotel.
After passing a beach volleyball court, we arrived at the reception. There, I introduced myself, filled out the registration form and received some basic information about the hotel, breakfast and transfer times, etc.
Conventional procedure. At the reception, very cold water flavored with fruit. Simple detail, almost necessary for a hotel of this standard installed in our hot tropics.
In about 5 minutes I received the room key and was accompanied by an employee to the accommodation.
the hotel room
The hotel offers three types of accommodation, which in general are cottages, bungalows, similar to each other and very comfortable.
The room has a super cute king bed (or two single beds - let us know when booking, if that's your preference), safe, mini bar, closet, flat screen TV, air conditioning, bathroom with exclusive amenities, hairdryer and a nice shower.
There is also a spacious veranda with a hammock. Ideal space to read, take a nap in the sea air from Bahia, or do nothing. Relax, baby! All right in Bahia!

Facilities and Common Areas of Patachocas
Surrounded by coconut and palm trees, the hotel offers an intimate, cozy and familiar atmosphere. The green area is huge and the built environments were created in harmony with the environment.
The hotel has a giant swimming pool adapted for children and adults, with an indoor bar. Some activities are proposed by the poolside during the day and on certain afternoons a musician enters the scene with saxophone and a chill playlist to give the perfect rhythm and musical notes for the sunset. Despite the grandeur of the place, the wi-fi works very well everywhere.
family activities
The Hotel also offers a dollhouse, playground for children, volleyball court, tennis court, shop, massage gazebo and lots of green space to relax and meditate.
Some activities such as canoeing, stand up board are charged separately. It is possible to rent (per hour) for the use of equipment. Negative point when seeing me, since the hotel's proposal is to be a resort full of activities.
Beach Service at Hotel Patachocas
I took advantage of the beach service and deserves to be highlighted here. The sun loungers and parasols, facing the beach, are available to guests who can order drinks, snacks and food from the restaurant.
I ordered drinks, coconut water and I also recommend that you try the sun-dried meat with farofa. Delight!
In fact, everything I ate at the hotel was very good. One day we had lunch at the restaurant at a table overlooking the pool. The order was a meat with risotto.
It's great to have the kitchen open outside of standard hours. That day we stopped this meal around 16pm. Speaking of food…
The banquet breakfast at Hotel Patachocas
I decided to send the diet home and threw myself into the breakfast that surprised me by the quality and quantity of gourmand options.
The system is buffet with several more traditional options from the Northeast. I cook cassava, sweet potatoes, dried meat, as well as tables filled with cakes, pies, breads, cold cuts, fruits, jellies, milk, yogurts, cereals, natural juices. Full range of flavors.
I took advantage of the egg and tapioca stations (made fresh to the guest's taste). I ate without pity or pity, sweet bread and student cakes. Things that you can only find in Bahia… and which, in this case, I love a lot! LOL
In addition, it is worth mentioning that the hotel offers lactose-free and gluten-free options. So they conquer not only sweet tooth like me, but all tribes.
Moral of the story: breakfast is a 10 and only chip (as they say in Bahia) those who practice orthodox intermittent fasting.

The Quarta Praia and the beaches of Morro de São Paulo:
The Hotel Patachocas is located by the sea, precisely on the fourth beach of Morro de São Paulo. It is an extensive, calm and peaceful beach, where there are some coral reefs that, depending on the tide, form natural pools. Pause, baby pool.
I love tranquility on the beach during the day, so I was right to stay at Patachocas on Fourth beach.
It is certainly the ideal beach for those who want peace.
The beaches of Morro de Sao Paulo
The other most famous beaches are called First, Second and Third Beach. My beach preferences are exactly in numerical order, only in reverse
First Beach
It is the closest beach to the village, where the city began. This is the best choice for those who practice or want to do water sports, such as surfing, stand up paddle and other activities such as zip lining.
second beach
This is the busiest beach where you can find several inns, of all tastes and pockets, restaurants, shops, tourist agencies and so on. It is there that the young people circulate and enjoy themselves in luais that go on until the wee hours of the morning.
I went on one and had fun. Stay tuned as dates vary. You will see a little bit of everything, but you will probably be amazed by the crowd of Argentines and Israelis. gringos shalom!
third beach
Pasted into the second, it is great for those who are also looking for a little more peace. There are some restaurant options with beach service and corals that form some natural pools. The almond trees on the long stretch of sand make perfect shadows for a seaside nap.

tips on what to dozer, where to drink, eat and have fun in Morro de São Paulo
- Enjoy the sunset with music and drinks at Toca do Morcego. The place is beautiful and has an incredible view of the sea with sun Live music and good vibes on the sand. When I went the place charged entrance (R$ 20).
- Dinner at Papoula – homemade food, delicious, well served and very cheap. It's not fancy, but it's nice.
- Dinner at Pousada Chez Max – restaurant/inn owned by an Italian. Roman menu. Authentic Roman food. One of the best carbonaras I've had in my life outside of Italy.
- Prices are steeper compared to other restaurants, but it's certainly worth every penne. Oops penny. If you're lucky you get a table by the sea. Sweet life!
One more SUPER cool detail that makes a difference: check out at Patachocas is flexible.
What this means in practice: you release your room until 12pm, but you can stay at the pool, beach and hotel property until later. We left there around 17pm. Excellent availability!
