Just over eleven thousand inhabitants live on the small island, it is only 19km long and 6km away from Ibiza.
The only way to get to Formentera is leaving Ibiza, there are no connections with the mainland, so being in Ibiza it is fundamental.

HOW TO GET HERE
There are some companies that make the transfer to Formentera, with daily departures during the summer. There are three exit points, the port of Ibiza, Figueretas and also from Playa den Bossa, the last one where you can find the best prices.
Tourist boats usually leave at 10 am and return at 19 pm, you don't have to return on the same day, but the vast majority return. Companies offer packages that cost around 20 euros (round trip) if you prefer to take a day trip.
I went on a Sunday to visit the island and I give my suggestion about the boats.
Aquabus company: It is the cheapest option, for 19 euros you buy a round trip ticket, departing at 10:30 am and returning at 19:30 pm but with the option to return later at 21 pm (Advantage: Return time, Disadvantage: Travel time almost 1 hour) .
Company Ulises Cat: It's the most expensive option, it's 22 euros for a round trip ticket, but the company I recommend. It's three euros that offer you a better service, on a better and faster boat, with departures at 10:00 am and return at 19:30 pm (Advantages: Departures earlier and faster boats, trip around 30, 40 minutes)
It is worth noting that the number of boats and transfer times increase in the months of July and August when more tourists begin to arrive.
I ended up opting for the cheapest one and regretted it, the departure was later, the trip was longer and at the end of the day, after so much exploring the island, I was super tired. I opted to come back later to try to see the sunset from Formentera but it wasn't possible either, I had a rented scooter and would have to return it no later than 21:00, practically the time of sunset.
Enjoying a sunset properly, calmly and in a nice place, is only possible if you spend a night on the island.
TRANSPORT ON THE ISLAND
If you want to know a lot about the island, it is highly recommended that you rent a means of transport, be it a bicycle, a scooter, a car or even a yacht. Depending on the bus I don't recommend it, unless you only visit one place.
Mine tip is to rent a scooter, it costs 20 euros to rent one with 50 cc and 25 euros for one with 125 cc.
Many opt for bicycles and I think it's really cool if you want to go to one beach or another, but to get to know more of the island I find it difficult with the heat and the distance.
The boat companies already offer you to rent cars, scooters or bicycles when you buy the ticket or during the trip!
Be one of the first to get off the boat if you book your car or scooter with the company, so you don't have to wait for dozens of tourists to get your transport! Bring a passport and also a driver's license (and yes, the Brazilian driver's license is for renting scooters too).
Now I'm going to name five places you can't miss if you're looking what to do in one day in Formentera!

1. Praia de Ses Illetes
Without a doubt one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to in my life. Of a surreal natural beauty and a breathtaking water color. Whenever I go to Formentera That's where I lay my towel.
It is close to the port of arrival and many people go to Formentera and just spends all day there. It has 3 great restaurants and also a bus that takes you from the port to the beach. There is an entrance fee for those who go by car, it is 4 euros and 2 euros for those who are on a motorcycle! Quads are prohibited!
2. It's Cap de Barbaria (Lighthouse)
This is a very special place too, in addition to the photography and the landscape, it has a cave that many tourists end up not seeing, it is a hole in the ground that takes you to a cave with an incredible view of the ocean. Unmissable!
3. Es Calo de Sant Agustin (Ses Platgetes)
This beach fights with the first for the position of the most beautiful place! It is a little hidden but by the road towards the Lighthouse from La Mola you pass by Saint Augustine. Much quieter and also breathtaking.
4. Saône Cove
It's my third beach on the list, it's actually very difficult to choose beaches as they are all amazing. But it is very popular and is always full of people. This is a beach a little more lively than the others!
5. Lighthouse of La Mola
in your list of what to do in one day in Formentera, it is worth ending the day by going to visit the Lighthouse of La Mola, which is the highest point on the island at 192 meters, and sit there to enjoy the view and feel a little peace and energy with the immensity of the ocean in front of you. It's something special!
Just be careful because there is nothing to protect you from a fall on that cliff and the wind is strong there.
On the way to Faro, be aware that when you are going up: there is a point on the road where you can enjoy a unique view of the entire island. You see the beaches on both sides, it's really cool.
And you, you know now what to do in one day in Formentera? If you are going to spend more days there, you will discover even more wonderful things!
