Today's tip is for those who enjoy the sea, or rather, the bottom of the sea. During my stay in Turkey, I was in the city of Fethiye, located 530 kilometers from Istanbul, and I decided to do two dives in Fethiye Bay.

After boarding the boat that would take us to the dive sites, we sailed for about 40 minutes until we reached the first stop, a place known as Dalyan Bay.

The second stop was at Eagles Nose Bay, which is approximately 15 minutes sailing from the first point. How am I certified by Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) in the Open Water course, which in Spain we call a basic course, I was able to dive up to 18 meters deep.

Tourists certified at advanced levels can dive even deeper – which, in this region of Turkey, means about 30 meters deep.

for me the positive and negative points to dive in Fethiye are:

Positives:

water temperature: the difference in temperature of the water near the surface and at 18 meters depth does not change much, falling from 24º Celsius to 22º Celsius (data provided by the local Dive Master).
Transparency and sea color: I think the photos say more than my comments?

Price: I paid 80 YLT (about R$85,00) for the two dives and this was, without a doubt, the cheapest dive I have ever done in the world. I'm not a super diver, but I've dived in more than 10 countries and I've never seen a similar price and, an important detail, without losing in quality of equipment and safety.
Tip: negotiate prices and try to close some packages before boarding because the values can get even better. In my case, for example, the regular price was 140 YLT, and before I even said a word, I had already gotten a 20 YLT discount!

Negatives:

Little marine life: I talked to the divers who work in the area and they told me that this is really a negative point of the region. And, if the local marine life lacks diversity, there are rock formations left over.

What is included?

In addition to transport, which will pick you up at the hotel or at the place you indicate, the combined price includes lunch on the boat and all necessary equipment (clothes, mask, etc).

Just to give you an idea, a trip with two dives in España costs, on average, R$ 200,00. In other words, more than double.

How long does it last?

From 8:18 am (departure from the hotel) to XNUMX:XNUMX pm (return at the port of Fethiye), every day of the week.

Who can dive?

Everyone who wants!! If you have a PADI or British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) certificate, just present it and go! But, if you've never dived, this is your chance. It is possible to take the course Open Water (basic) in Fethiye same.

Those who are not certified or do not want to take the course can only experience the feeling of being at the bottom of the sea and opting for the dive called “Try Dive“, who is accompanied by a Dive Master. In this case, there are two dives with a maximum depth of 5 meters and a duration of 20 minutes.

For those who are just following along, I guarantee it won't be boring at all. The less adventurous can soak up the sun to the sound of Turkish music or enjoy the sea doing a float with mask and snorkel.

I used the company Extathlon and recommend. They are very organized and lively, and the equipment is new. having a base of English you can enjoy it a lot! But, if you intend to do the diving course while you are there, it is important to study the technical terms of diving.
