We are not going to go into the history of ballooning, which is an aeronautical sport that began in the XNUMXth century in France and today has fans and fans all over the world. For tourists, the most common is the hot air balloon (fire!) which has become a famous tourist attraction around the four corners.
Do you already know your travel dates? So, book in advance here.
It is important to book as soon as possible for the day after your arrival, as the weather can interfere and ruin your plans. There is a regulation and the weather conditions must be adequate to lift the flights.
Rain and strong winds are not welcome there. During our stay (four days) only one of them was favorable. This is super normal, so the vapt-vupt on this trip can be a bore.
Step by step:
1) After contacting the Cappadocia Balloons, you will receive an email with some useful information and dressing tips – which vary greatly according to the seasons.
A few days before your flight they will write to you again to confirm the time they will pick you up from your hotel. Get ready to get up early. Usually, they stop by hotels around 04:30 am.
2) The van picks you up and takes you to a kind of their HQ, where breakfast is served (#eating) and some basic information about the tour is given. It's a kind of ground check-in. Once that's done, board the van again, this time in the hot air.
3) Arriving at the starting point you will see several types of balloons. The company has 22 balloons in total and offers three types of tours. Standard (flight from 45 to 65 minutes with a capacity of 20 people), Deluxe (10 hour and a half flight with fewer people, between 14 and XNUMX) and Private (according to the customer's taste - many people take a private flight for weddings, birthdays and also as a corporate event).
4) Time to go up! Take-off takes place before dawn and the balloons take off right at sunrise, in a region about 10 minutes by car from the Centro de Goreme. Beautiful to see the sun coming up behind the mountains.
The ascent of the balloon is due to the heating of the atmospheric air, which, when it becomes less dense, raises the balloon. Our pilot Vural explained this and much more along the way. Fear? Zero! Enjoyment? Total! The spectacular view is full of rock formations that were and still transform naturally with erosion, rainfall and climate change.
5) After an hour's ride through the open sky, it's time for landing. The pilot controls everything meticulously and we didn't even feel when the “basket” reached dry land. At that moment a company team appears with support cars and they work together to deflate the envelope (as they call the balloon) and prepare the “party”.
6) Tim Tim! The party is a very nice moment of celebration that they prepare with great care. Everything happens right there at the landing point. Rola toast with sparkling wine and delivery of a personalized certificate.
7) Time to say goodbye! The time to return to the hotel is right after the pampering, around 08:XNUMX. The same beautiful and super comfortable van will take you to the door of your hotel. Still time for breakfast (the second of the day).
