Top attractions at Epcot
Epcot is divided into four areas: World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature and World Showcase.
The first three areas concentrate most of the park's attractions. Until 2021, they were known only as “Future World”, but with the revitalization of the park that name is no longer used.
In World Showcase are located pavilions representing 11 countries: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, United States, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom and Canada. Each one has its characteristics, attractions, shops and restaurants typical of the nation it represents.
World Showcase usually opens later. Therefore, always check the timetables through the app. My disney experience, Disney website or on the day by map and Time Guide.
Among the areas, the most sought after toys (or attractions, as they say within the Disney world) are the test track, Frozen Ever After e Soarin' Around the World.
Below we list the main attractions for you to familiarize yourself and put the ones you prefer in the itinerary.

In addition to the attractions, some World Showcase countries have performances related to the cultures of each nation, such as musical shows in Canada, with bands from there. Check the Time Guide for information and times and plan accordingly.

This attraction is quiet, great for families with young children and fans of the movie Ratatouille. It's a 4D simulator that goes through an adventure of Remy and his mouse friends running away from the kitchen.
World Showcase Pavilions
Mexico
The Mexican pavilion has 3 restaurants, a tequila emporium, shops selling typical products and an attraction called Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, which is a boat ride through the landscapes of Mexico, with the participation of the very Brazilian Zé Carioca.
Norway
The Frozen Ever After attraction is located in the Norway pavilion, one of the most popular Disney parks in Florida. It is an essential place for anyone with children who like Frozen, or for fans of the characters Elsa and Anna. In addition to the attraction, there is also a meal with the princesses at the Akershus restaurant.
China
The main attraction of the Chinese pavilion is Reflections of China, a 360º film, lasting 14 minutes. In addition to it, the pavilion follows the same parameters as the others: restaurants, souvenir shops, and typical Chinese architecture.
Germany
Germany doesn't have any specific attractions, but it does have two German food restaurants – with lots of beer.
Italy
Like neighboring Germany, the Italy pavilion has no attractions, but it has three typical food restaurants.
United States
Opposite the entrance to Epcot is the United States pavilion. Its attraction, The American Adventure, is a 30-minute film about American history. The place is worth more for the American colonial architecture.
Japan
One of the best restaurants in the park, Teppan Edo, is located in the Japanese pavilion, where the chefs prepare the food freshly on hot plates, right in front of the customers. Book in advance as it is very popular.
Morocco
The Morocco pavilion has no attractions, but the architecture takes you to the streets of Marrakesh. The main restaurant has typical food and a live belly dancing show.
France
Impressions de France is the pavilion attraction, a 20-minute film about French landscapes.
United Kingdom
The English pavilion is perfect for anyone who likes Fish 'n' Chips. Also check out the stores with British products.
Canada
At the other end of World Showcase, and with one of the best views of the closing show, is Canada. In the pavilion there is a restaurant and typical shops of the country.
Epcot seasonal events
Virtually throughout the year there are special events at Epcot. These events are already included in the normal park ticket, with no separate purchase required.
Epcot International Festival of Arts
The Epcot International Festival of Arts is an event dedicated to the performing, theatrical and gastronomic arts and takes place from mid-January to early February.
During this time it is possible to find exhibitors and their works, watch shows with Broadway artists, try themed foods scattered in the stalls in the park and purchase special products from the festival.
Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival
From late February to late May, to celebrate spring, Epcot transforms into a large, colorful garden. The festival features several pruned plants in the shape of beloved Disney characters.
The park is magnificent for photos, the color and magic overflow from the gardens made especially for this festival. Be sure to visit the butterfly garden, with several species flying freely.
Special foods and themed products are also on sale throughout the park.
Epcot Food & Wine Festival
If your preference is to eat a lot, from the end of August to mid-November there is a Gastronomy Festival, the Epcot Food & Wine Festival.
Delights from different regions of the world can be savored in just one day! In addition to the typical foods of the countries of the 11 pavilions, several stalls from several other countries, such as España, are spread around the World Showcase.
For those who like to delight in flavors from different parts of the world, this festival is worth it! Special products are on sale at the park's stores.
Epcot International Festival of the Holidays
Do you enjoy Christmas parties? Then, between the end of November and the end of December, the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays takes place, where the celebration of Christmas takes place in the 11 pavilions of the countries.
In addition, the festival has special shows, such as the Candlelight Processional, with an orchestra of 50 musicians, choir and a narrator who enchants telling and playing the Christmas story. It's exciting!
Map to Epcot
To find your way around, check out the Epcot map and where its areas, attractions and country pavilions are.
Itinerary at Epcot
As it is a park with a large area and with pavilions of the countries to visit, I recommend that you take at least a full day to get to know it and enjoy the attractions and shows.
To get started, look at the park's opening and closing times on the website or app My disney experience to make your schedule.
If you're staying at Disney hotels, check the day for Extra Magic Hours at Epcot (see in app). This is an advantage that guests have at Disney parks. With this, they can enter 1 hour before or leave a few hours after the park's official opening hours.
Tip: If you are not staying at Disney resorts, escape the day with Extra Magic Hours, as you will get the park already full when you enter.
Regardless of your choice, the tip is to arrive early and calculate a time of 15 to 20 minutes to travel from the parking lot to the entrance to the park. I always suggest that you plan to arrive 30 minutes before the official opening time. This makes it easier to pick up empty attractions and be able to enjoy the park better.
Adult group tour
Morning:
When you arrive, enjoy and take lots of pictures in front of Spaceship Earth. Park photographers will be spread out at the photography points and they will take them with their cell phone or camera without any problem.
Enjoy and head to the attraction inside Spaceship Earth; I suggest you book Lightning Lane for her in the first few hours you plan to be in the park.
Go to the east side outside the Spaceship and take the Single Rider line (line to ride the ride alone, separate from your group) at the Test Track ride. Then, enjoy and use your Lightning Lane if you have booked for the Mission Space attraction, which is also in this area.
Going to the west side of the Spaceship you will pass through a corridor where the Character Spot is. In it you find Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald for photos in a single row. It's very popular, but it's an opportunity to take a photo with the main characters in their traditional clothes all at once.
Still on the west side, enjoy The Seas with Nemo & Friends attraction and then head to The Land pavilion.
Late:
A tip is to schedule Lightning Lane to Soarin' Around the World for just before lunch. So, after doing this attraction, a good tip is to have lunch at Sunshine Seasons – a quick service restaurant (counter service) with a wide variety of options, including healthy ones.
After lunch, head towards the World Showcase. Before entering the pavilions, stop by Club Cool. This Coca-Cola store sells official products. The coolest thing is that you can try sodas from several countries for free!
Take time to enjoy each pavilion, look at the products, taste the delights of the traditional dishes and take lots of pictures!
Night:
Start the afternoon at the famous Drinking Around the World, a game only for people over 21 and who like to try drinks from different countries. You'll be able to sample typical drinks from each of Epcot's 11 pavilions.
The ideal is to do this activity in a group, not to go past the point before nightfall, lol. This game can also be played with typical appetizers from the countries, if your preference is food. But what really counts is having fun and sharing new experiences!
Late in the evening, half an hour before show time, prepare to grab a seat to watch the show Harmonious.
#AnotaAí: The best places to watch the show are in front of the England pavilion, towards the Canada pavilion and, between the Mexico and Norway pavilions – if it is not being occupied by some VIP party.
If you want to dine at one of the country's restaurants, those in Mexico and Japan have great views of the show. Remember that these restaurants require a reservation, made through the website or app. Reservations open 180 days in advance.
A note, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth ran until September 30, 2019, tentatively replaced by the Epcot Forever show until 2021, when the show debuted. Harmonious.
Itinerary for groups with children
Morning:
At the entrance, in addition to taking photos on Spaceship Earth, you will find Margarida for photos. Bookmark Lightning Lane for the attraction within the geosphere upon arrival at the park.
Head west for Journey into Imagination, The Sea with Nemo & Friends and Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival attractions.
On the way stop for photos with Mickey and the gang at the Character Spot. Right in front, Baymax, from the movie Big Hero 6, and Sadness and Joy from the movie Inside Out are there for meetings, photos and autographs.
Late:
As the Frozen Ever After attraction is located in the Norway pavilion, schedule Lightning Lane for after lunch in the afternoon. Throughout the countries you will find several princesses and characters for photos.
If you have children who love princesses a lot, a suggestion is to book lunch at Akershus, which is also located in the Norway pavilion. There Beauty welcomes you and even during the meal the princesses Ariel, Aurora, Snow White, Cinderella, Jasmine or Mary Poppins can appear there. The meal has a fixed price of 63 dollars for adults and 41 dollars for children up to 9 years old.
A great tip for children is to buy the passport sold in stores and ask the cast members of each country to sign and stamp it. It's a super fun game that kids (and adults, lol) love!
Night:
In the evening, head to the England pavilion to grab a good seat to watch the closing show.
Where to eat at Epcot
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (with characters)
Meal inside the Norway pavilion with the princesses. Belle in her famous yellow ball gown welcomes guests, and you'll be able to take a picture with her. The buffet has salads, starters and the main course that can be chosen from some menu options. Prices per adult are around U$ 60 per person.
*Advance reservation required – Through the My Disney Experience app or the Disney website. Opens 180 days in advance.
Garden Grill (with characters)
Next to the Soarin attraction in The Land pavilion, in this restaurant you can find Tico, Teco, Pluto and Mickey. In the all you can eat system – portions are passed from table to table and you help yourself to whatever you want, as many times as you want!
It has a choice of salad, meat, chicken and a children's menu for lunch and dinner. For breakfast they offer bread, Mickey waffle and cinnamon roll. Prices per adult are close to $55 for dinner and $42 for breakfast.
*Advance reservations required – through the My Disney Experience app or the Disney website. Opens 180 days in advance.
Tokyo Dinning and Teppan Edo (Japan)
Go upstairs in the Japan pavilion to find these restaurants. The first offers typical Japanese food, such as sushi and sashimi. The second makes the teppan (grilled meat, chicken and vegetables) on the griddle, in front of the visitors.
All Italy Restaurant and Via Napoli Restaurant and Pizzeria (Italy)
Located in the Italy pavilion, both serve pasta and typical Italian food. Via de Napoli is famous for its pizzas too.
The Cellar (Canada)
A great gastronomic option if you don't mind prices, and it's located in the Canada pavilion. The menu has soups, meats and great desserts.
Spice Road Table e Marrakesh (Marrocos)
Feel like you're in Morocco when you visit these restaurants! It has typical Moroccan food. Marrakesh has belly dancing performances.
Rose And Crown Pub (England)
Typical English pub style, at the entrance to the England pavilion. Order the famous Fish and Chips, which are delicious!
Fast food or counter service
All pavilions of the countries have options of restaurants with counter service and typical fast-prepared foods. It's really worth it! Check out some:
- Sunshine Seasons (World Nature): Several food islands with different options at a good price, inside The Land pavilion.
- Kabuki Café (World Showcase): If you like sushi platters, this is your place! Sit at the outdoor tables next to the koi pond and enjoy the beautiful decor.
- La Cantina De San Angell (World Showcase): If your order is Mexican food or even try a few shots of tequilas, this is your place.
Snacks and treats
For those who just want something to snack on, the following shops will please. These are places with delicious sweets, desserts and other types of snacks that are highly praised:
Caramel Cake: Located in the Germany pavilion, it offers several sweets with caramel on the menu. Popcorn is sensational, so put it on your list.
The Ice Cream Maker: Epcot's tastiest and most famous ice cream in the France pavilion. It has several wonderful and different options! Try the macaron stuffed with ice cream.
History of Epcot
At the beginning of the 20th century, Walt Disney thought about creating a utopian city, in which the technologies of the XNUMXst century would be present. The model community would have XNUMX inhabitants, who would live together. As the idea was difficult to implement at the time, it ended up being put on paper.
With his death in 1966, those responsible for the Walt Disney Company decided, after the construction of the Magic Kingdom in 1971, to transform Walt's dream into a park as well, to boost the number of visitors to the complex.
However, when the park was being conceived, there was no consensus on what would be the main theme, and opinions were divided between a park with the most diverse types of technological advances or a kind of international fair, bringing a bit of culture of several countries in one place.
So why not combine the two, right? So Epcot became a reality, uniting the idea of the world of the future and being a place where several nations are present, one next to the other, in World Showcase.
Epcot ou Epcot Center?
The name Epcot is an abbreviation for Experimental Prototype of Community of Tomorrow, which stands for Experimental Prototype of Community of Tomorrow. Until 1994, the park was called Epcot Center.
With the reformulation of the park in the 90s, more entertainment attractions were opened, not just educational ones. In addition, characters were introduced to give a more Disney face to the place, at the request of the public. Eventually, they decided to reduce the name to just Epcot, as it continues to this day.
Epcot Tickets
Tickets for Walt Disney World Resort parks in Orlando are per day, that is, you choose how many days you will visit the parks and buy the equivalent number of tickets.
There are three Disney Parks Florida ticket options:
- Basic, where you can visit one park per day
- Park hopper, where you can visit more than one park per day
- Park Hopper Plus, in which you can visit more than one park per day and includes a visit to Disney water parks.
Tickets vary in price by day and season, depending on demand. The validity also varies according to the number of days purchased.
Basic park day admission starts at $109 per person. Park Hopper starts at $169 per person, and Park Hopper Plus starts at $189 per person.
Tickets are sold at licensed agencies in España, through Disney's official website or at the parks' ticket offices.
It is more advantageous to buy in advance here at España, thus making it possible to split the price of your tickets. If you buy on the website or at the box office, you will have to include the IOF on your credit card plus 6,5% Florida tax in the final price.
Genie+
Disney has launched a novelty for those who do not want to waste a lot of time in lines at attractions, and are willing to pay for it. This is Genie+, an upgrade benefit that can be purchased along with tickets or through the My Disney Experience app.
Genie+ allows you to schedule the fast line, called Lightning Lane, for the largest amusement park in the park. In fact, the translation of this name would be something like “lightning queue”, which already helps to understand the feature, doesn't it?
In addition to this benefit of fast lines, Genie+ also offers Disney PhotoPass and audio guides already included in the package price. Its value is $15 USD per day/person, excluding taxes.
It is also worth remembering that the old FastPass+ no longer exists, since Genie+ was implemented.
How does Lightning Lane work?
Lightning Lane Works like this:
- Access the Disney app from 7 am the day you go to the park to mark the first Lightning Lane of the day.
- Choose which attraction you want to go to first with the quick queue feature, and book your appointment.
- After using the toy without queuing, you can now schedule the feature for a next attraction.
Only when the vacancies of the first time of an attraction are filled are spaces released for the next time. That is, it is not possible to schedule in the morning to go to a ride in the afternoon - unless it is something super busy and all the earlier times are already full.
It is also only possible to schedule one quick queue at a time. But in case you're unable to schedule Lightning Lane at the first time, don't worry: after two hours of an appointment, another one is released. So you don't stay without using the resource for a long time.
It is worth remembering that, on the most crowded days, the wait in line at the most popular attractions can reach 2 hours. That's why Genie+ is a good alternative, but only if your budget can afford that extra expense. Those who don't want to spend money on this need not worry, because you can enjoy (and a lot) Disney without this perk.
Epcot Attractions to Lightning Lane
At Epcot, Lightning Lane scheduling is available for the following attractions:
- Soarin' Around the World
- test track
- Mission: Space
- Living with the Land
- Journey into Imagination
- Spaceship Earth
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends
- Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival
- Turtle talk with crush
- Frozen Ever After (only until August 7, 2022)
There is also the sale of the individual Lightning Lane, which exists exclusively for the most popular attractions in the park. In the case of Epcot, they are offered for Frozen Ever After and Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. And yes, as the benefit is sold separately, these attractions are not available on Genie+. You will only have a quick queue at them if you buy them separately.
The Frozen Ever After ride is available on Genie+ temporarily until August 7, 2022.
Is it worth using Lightning Lane at which attractions?
If you are traveling with adults only, the suggestion is to book Soarin, which always has a long line, Mission: Space and Spaceship Earth.
At the Test Track attraction, the tip is to use the Single Rider line (line to go alone on the attraction, separate from your group), which goes much faster than normal.
If you are in a group with children, the suggestion is to schedule for Spaceship Earth and The Seas with Nemo & Friends.
The Frozen Ever After attraction is not included in the Genie+ attractions, but there is a separate sale of Lightning Lane exclusively for it - if it's a priority in the park, whether yours or the little ones, it's worth buying.
More Epcot tips
1) Download the apps before the trip
Get the app My disney experience to register now and link your companions' tickets. Start researching attractions and places to eat, as well as looking at maps and checking average queue times.
There are many characters scattered throughout Epcot and in the countries we find several princesses. Look through the app or on the park map for their location.
2) Be aware of the times to enter Epcot
Get there as early as possible as the parks start filling up an hour after opening. Take advantage of the tip to enter half an hour before the official time.
3) Tips for those traveling with children
If you have small children or babies, all parks have the Baby Care Center. In them you can heat the baby food and get diapers, tissues and even some medicines. Look at the location on the map or seek help from a cast member.
Rent from companies outside the parks or buy a stroller for children up to 7 or 8 years old at Walmart. In the parks the rent per day is US$ 50 and the strollers are uncomfortable. Even if your child is older, the park is tiring to walk around all day.
4) What to bring to the park
We walked an average of 20 km through Epcot. So prepare yourself physically and wear comfortable shoes.
The water in all of Orlando is drinkable, you can order it for free at restaurants – the well-known tap water.
Bring snacks, fruit and cookies to eat when you get hungry, especially for children. In case you forget, in several stalls in the park, pieces of fruit are sold.
5) For those who like photos for Instagram
If you like professional photos with magical effects, buy in advance on the Disney website the Memory Maker. It costs US$169 three days in advance and if purchased after that period it costs US$199.
With the Memory Card, all your photos at the attractions, no matter how many photos were taken at Disney Parks, will be included! Some videos with effects are produced by surprise and it is a great souvenir of the trip.
6) What is prohibited
Inside the Walt Disney World Resort parks, smoking is now prohibited. Selfie sticks are also not allowed.
7) Extra Tips for Epcot
Parking costs $25 a day. You can leave and return to the park on the same day. #StayTip: keep the proof of payment for parking to pay it only once.
Book at least one restaurant from a country of your choice. You will not regret.
In case you forget your cell phone charger, in the Morocco pavilion there are several sockets where you can charge your device.
For those staying at Disney hotels: use the free shuttle bus to and from the park. If you have children, the tip is to return to the hotel in the middle of the afternoon and take a break to enjoy the night show at Epcot.
And finally! Enjoy the magic of hang gliding in a simulator, go on a space mission, sail with Elsa from Frozen and visit 11 countries in one day!
Where to stay near Epcot
The Walt Disney World complex is located in Lake Buena Vista, next to Kissimee. So, if you're looking for hotels near the parks, look in these areas, not Orlando.
In the Epcot area are some Disney hotels, both luxury and good value for money. In addition to them, there are two luxury partners that are managed by other companies, but that have the same advantages as Disney resorts.
