New York it is a super metropolis in many ways, and culturally speaking it couldn't be different. There are certain museums in New York that are worth a visit, such as the Metropolitanthe Guggenheimthe MoMA and the Natural History Museum. And these are just some of the many traditional and unmissable attractions for anyone visiting the city.
For those who have more time or have visited the city more than once, there are a multitude of other cool and lesser-known attractions that are very worthwhile. In this post, I selected some of my favorites:

Storm King Art Center
O Storm King Art Center is known by Brazilians as the “New York Inhotim”. It's an open-air museum in Montainville, upstate, about an hour away from Manhattan. To get there, there is a bus service that leaves from the Port Authority Bus Terminal (42st and 8th Ave). From 18 dollars/person you buy the ticket that includes round trip and the museum ticket, you can find more information on the website.
The museum occupies a huge green area and there are several sculptures on display. Its permanent collection is quite large, and there are always one or two temporary exhibitions; this year, for example, there are two: Water Sources, from Lynda benglis e Outlook. Luke Stettner. To explore everything calmly, it is good to reserve a full day.
The museum offers an internal transport service (like a little train) that travels along a pre-established route and allows you to get on and off at different points, which is great and helps to reach the most distant areas of the park, in addition to giving general information about some of the works. It is also possible to rent bicycles in the park, which is a very nice option.
please note that Storm King Art Center it works between the months of April and November, closing in the winter months.

The Cloisters
O cloisters is a museum dedicated to art and medieval architecture and that belongs to the Metropolitan group (buying the Met ticket, which costs USD 25,00, you are entitled to visit the Cloisters that same week. This already helps a lot, since your individual ticket also costs USD 25,00 ).
The museum is in Fort Tryon Park, in northern Manhattan, still within the island. The impression you get from there, however, is that you are hours and hours away from the hubbub of Big Apple – while actually being just a few metro stops away. Access to the museum is very easy: you must take the metro line “A”, heading north, and get off at the 190th street station. Leaving the subway by the elevator, you will soon see the park on the right.
The park's gardens are extremely well cared for, and in themselves would be worth a visit, but the museum is also incredible, both for its architecture – unlike anything you expect to find in NY – and for the collection itself, filled with paintings, jewelry, furniture and tapestries.

The Rubin
The Rubin is a real treasure of the Tibetan art hidden in Manhattan. If you also don't know much (or nothing, as I did) about this type of art, the museum is still worth a visit and you will be surprised. There are several floors of paintings, sculptures and tapestries from India, Nepal, the Himalayas and surrounding areas. During the day, several guided tours leave from reception, the guides are experts on the subject and the visit becomes a real lesson. Currently, one of these tours is specifically dedicated to Nepal, , a way of honoring the country after the earthquake. The museum's restaurant is also worth a visit: the food, very tasty, is typical of the region.
Museum tickets cost USD 15,00.
Chelsea's art galleries
This program is one of my favorites, and the best, in addition to always being renewed, is free (in times of dollar at R$4,00, everything that is free is even more delicious). Chelsea it is a very famous neighborhood for its art galleries. In just over 6 blocks, from 20th to 27th streets, in the stretch between 10th and 11th avenues, there is a huge concentration of them, some better known (such as Gagosian, for example) and others not so much, but all equally delicious. . It is worth setting aside an afternoon to explore the region at leisure.
For those who like to plan ahead, a good tip is the website http://chelseagallerymap.com/ There they list what is being exhibited in the main galleries, and the coolest thing: you can select what you want to visit and the website transfers all this information to an area map, which you can print or email. Makes the visit a lot easier!
Other tips: since you are in the region, a good option is to have lunch at Chelsea Market, a large market with several restaurants (for those who love lobster, it is really worth checking out the Lobster Place, inside) and taking a walk in the Highline, the garden suspended on the old train tracks, completely renovated and very pleasant.
Frick Collection and New Gallery
For those who have already visited the most famous museums in Museum Mile (section of 5th avenue where the Met and Guggenheim are concentrated, for example), a nice idea is to set aside an afternoon to take a look at these other two museums in the region. Both give you the feeling that you are visiting the private collection of some millionaire. In case of Frick Collection, the story is really this: it is about the art collection of Henry Frick, an American tycoon who had his heyday in the late 5th century. The museum occupies his former mansion, a beautiful house on XNUMXth ave, and is full of amazing pieces (Goya, Velazquez and others).
A Neue Galerie is a museum of German and Austrian art, the highlight of which are the works of Klimt, in particular the retraced by Adele Bloch-Bauer I. The visit is quick and very interesting, I just don't recommend going on weekends, as it usually gets very crowded.
