There are many good options where to eat in Bern, capital of Switzerland. The city, despite its historic climate, is vibrant and full of news when it comes to restaurants and bars.
In this post, we are going to list some of the places we go to during our days here, all recommended by the tourist office, that is, people who understand the subject, right? If you haven't seen the tips and attractions of the Swiss capital, it's also worth checking out the post about it.
WHERE TO EAT IN BERN
LÖTSCHBERG
This spot is very popular with Bern locals, an environment that celebrates the country's culinary history, but with a modern feel that defies stereotypes. Kind of like a Swiss chalet without the wood cladding.
In addition to a good variety of Swiss wines, specialties include fondues and raclettes. For dinner, I ordered a Kalbs Cordon Bleu (meat bread with ham and cheese also called Schnitzel) with Spätzli (an egg and flour pasta very common in Switzerland served as a side dish).
For dessert, the homemade toblerone served with whipped cream is awesome (Hausgemachte Tobleroneschoggiküchlein).

OLD TRAMDEPOT
With outdoor tables and a beautiful view of Bern or inside the large dining room, this restaurant is right in front of Parque dos Ursos and has a very lively atmosphere. In the middle of the establishment are tanks used for brewing local beer.
As a starter, I ordered a salad with leaves and artichokes and, as a main course, a delicious steak tartare.

ROSE GARDEN
This cool bar/restaurant is a great option for a quick lunch or a drink in the late afternoon. But the tables there are very disputed on warmer days. It is located in the park of the same name, a beautiful green area with more than 200 species of roses.

EMMENTAL SCHÄUKASEREI
About an hour by train from Bern, this is not just a restaurant, but a venue in the Emmental region designed to showcase how this famous cheese is made. The restaurant has great options, but the flagship is undoubtedly the emmental fondue (know all about this tour).
For dessert, it's worth ordering the very traditional (and huge) Swiss meringue.

KORNHAUSKELLER
This surprising restaurant built between 1711 and 1718 goes unnoticed by anyone walking through the center of Bern, without imagining that under their feet is a large gallery with frescoes that houses the establishment. In addition to being a restaurant, it is popular for happy hour or to end the night after dinner at its lounge bar.
